Silk Road Grotto Miniature

Back in the 1980’s, tourists were still allowed to enter the intricately carved and painted Buddhist Grotto caves of the Silk Road. I found this angle of the Buddha with his giant legs wrapped in sandstone robes to be both inspiring and artistically intriguing. Please see the larger version in the International Adventure Gallery. This miniature received 3rd Place at Miniature Arts Bardean Exhibition in 2008.
